The Office of Academic Affairs launched the international PhD co-advising program with the aim of establishing an international learning environment and promoting international collaboration in research and publications. Applications for the 2027 program are now open, including the following three tracks:
- A. International PhD co-advising program (short-term version): Funding for up to 10 months.
- B. International PhD co-advising program (long-term version): Funding for 1–2 years (application guidelines updated)
- C. NTU (Taiwan) × NTU (Singapore) Joint Supervision Program (NTU2 JSP): Exclusive partnership between the two NTUs
Important note: As the funding required for the longer-term projects has not yet been approved by the Ministry of Education, the funding timeline remains uncertain. We recommend prioritizing applications for the short-term projects to facilitate the planning of co-advising arrangements. For those with long-term co-advising needs, we recommend applying for both the short-term and longer-term projects.

A. International PhD co-advising program (The short-term version)
- 1. Reference: The 1st Academic Affairs Meeting of the first semester of Academic Year 2025
- 2. The Office of Academic Affairs has implemented the co-advising program since 2025, with the aims of establishing an international learning and research environment for our PhD students, enhancing their global mobility after graduation, and promoting international collaboration in research and publications.
- 3. Eligible applicants：Full-time NTU faculty members.
- 4. Nationality of doctoral students: Taiwanese and international students
- 5. The program includes the following
Required: Thesis and research supervision (online or onsite supervision)
Optional: Overseas research attachment (min. 2 months, max. 6 months)

B. International PhD co-advising program (The long-term version)
- 1. Eligible applicants：Full-time NTU faculty members.
- 2. Required: Thesis and research supervision (online or on-site supervision) for a period of 1-2 years
- 3. Optional: Overseas research attachment for 1–2 years
- 4. Nationality of doctoral students: Taiwanese students (subject to funding requirements)
- 5. The program includes the following

C. NTU (Taiwan) × NTU (Singapore) Joint Supervision Program
- 1. The first university-level joint doctoral supervision program between the two NTUs, established to deepen institutional collaboration and foster outstanding research talent. The program officially launches in 2026.
- 2. Admission quota：3 students each year
- 3. Eligibility: First- and second-year PhD students (within the first 18 months of enrollment).
- 4. Joint Supervision Requirements: The JSP focuses on research supervision. Both of the following are required:
1) Thesis and research supervision
2) A research attachment at NTU-SG: After passing the qualifying examination, JSP students are required to undertake a research attachment at NTU-SG for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 24 months, in compliance with NTU-TW’s academic regulations regarding the period of study.
- 5. Funding for the overseas research attachment: NTU-TW will provide JSP students with a monthly stipend of NT$45,000 for up to 12 months.
